Batik has so many kind as Indonesia has a diverse ethnic groups. You can find batik in any island in Indonesia easily. There are many stores in Indonesia that sell batik, of course in such ranges of price too. However, no matter the quality level of batik, it has particular ways to take care of. And surely for you who have batik and want to keep you batik in its beautiful look, here are tips how to keep them how they are supposed to be.
  • - Use a special soap, or shampoo to wash your batik.
  • - Do not rub and do not use detergents.
  • - Do not sunbathe batik in a place exposed to direct sunlight, but sun batik in a shady place.
  • - Enter the fragrant root for your clothes in your closet to prevent moth disturbance.
Thing to pay attention:
Wash your batik using a hair shampoo or special detergent for batik, like Perwoll. It's specialized for batik, silk, and wool. Perwoll can keep the texture and color of the fabric up to 50% longer than other detergents. Perwoll is a product that is still directly imported from Germany as it has a guaranteed good quality. Perwoll Batik Silk Wool can be easily bought in a supermarket, the normal price is Rp 44. 850/bottle (about USD 5.)

Never rub your batik! If your batik is not too dirty you can clean it with warm water. But if your batik is enough stained, you can clean it with just common bathing soap. However, if the stain is still hard to get rid of, then you can use orange peel for the purpose. And don't use washing machine!
After the dirt lose, you have to dry in a shade space but you do not need to squeeze, let the cloth dry naturally. When sunbathing your batik you better pull the edges of the fabric to the folded fabric fibers returned to normal.

Avoid ironing directly, if so tangled you can spray water on top of your batik cloth and layer over your batik with another fabrics. This is to avoid your batik cloth exposed to direct heat of iron.
If you want to give the deodorant and batik fabric softener, do not spray directly on the fabric. Previously, the first cloth cover with newspaper, then spray deodorant and fabric softener. You should not spray perfume or cologne directly to fabric or silk batik clothes that have natural colorant.

After ironed, you should save your batik in plastic to prevent moth-eaten. We recommend that you do not give solid camphor because it's too hard as it can damage your batik cloth. It's also a good idea to give pepper wrapped in a napkin and enter in your closet to repel moths. Or you can use the fragrant root, dip it into hot water and then dry it, then dip again into hot water and dry it again. After the fragrant root dry you can use it.
